On
February 2, 2012, Junipero Parlor No. 141, Monterey, hosted the District 22
Official Visit of Grand President Marilynn Rodrigues at the House of the FourWinds in Monterey. The combined Parlors
were known as the “Angels with Heart Parlor No. 2012.” The buffet luncheon was catered by Turf Club
Catering in Salinas. The tables were
decorated in lavender and purple—Grand President Marilynn’s colors.
We
were honored to have two of her Grand Officers attend as well: Senior
Grand Trustee Suzi Riley, Bonita Parlor No. 10, Redwood City, and Grand
Marshall Sharon Logan, San Jose Parlor No. 81.
In addition to the
Grand Officers, four Past Grand Presidents attended as well: Past Grand
President Dorothy Coats, Encinal Parlor No. 156, Alameda; Past Grand President Sharon
M. Johnston, San Juan Bautista Parlor No. 179 and Deputy Grand President to
Aleli Parlor No. 102, Salinas; Past Grand President Joan Hall, Charter Oak
Parlor No. 292, Visalia and Deputy Grand President to Fresno Parlor No. 187;
and Past Grand President Jean E. Koehl, Gilroy Parlor No. 312 and Deputy Grand President
to Santa Cruz Parlor No. 26.
Chairman
Cece Johnston, San Juan Bautista Parlor No. 179 introduced President Barbara
Thomas, Aleli Parlor No.102 and her corps of officers. Marshal Rosemary Perez presented Grand
President Marilynn Rodrigues, Angelita Parlor No. 32, Livermore, and escorted
her to her seat of honor. President
Barbara proceeded to open the meeting.
The
Ceremony of Initiation was conducted. Native Daughters of the Golden West was
honored to have seven new members initiated:

Grand
President Marilynn pinned the Emblem of the Order and term pins on the new
members and presented the new members to the assembled members and guests. Grand President Marilynn also presented Geri
Kall, San Juan Bautista Parlor No. 179, with her 50 year pin. A Special Certificate of Appreciation was
awarded to Zola Carver, Junipero Parlor No.141 by Grand President Marilynn.
Annual
Parlor Reports were presented to Grand President Marilynn by the five Hostess
Parlors and Hostess Parlor gifts consisting of an Angel Doll with a skirt of
$5.00 Bills and a small gas pump containing a $50.00 gas allowance donation as
well as gifts from Past Grand President Sharon Johnston. A coin march and Veteran Raffle was held and
a check was presented to Grand President Marilynn for the Special Project
Scholarships for Returning Veterans.
Grand
President Marilynn closed the visit thanking everyone for putting this glorious
day together. She again welcomed the
seven new Sisters received today and stressed the importance in keeping our
Order going forward.
